k̓esúsem - not yet in x̄á’islak̓ala

this series is about the time we have with our beloved pet companions, and how it never feels like enough. these have been made during a time heavy with anticipatory grief, being told that my sweet cat Prudence has maybe a month left in her journey here with us. these pieces are about hope, love, joy and enduring connection. 

i have been reflecting on our lives together and how much she means to me, and appreciating every moment we have. given the heaviness that surrounds this theme, i’ve smudged these pieces a lot. i hope these remind you of the good times and not only the hard ones, and help you carry the load of grief knowing so many of us go through these feelings.

i made 14 pieces available for others to bring home in this collection, one for each year of her life.. and one pair for me, the hope that we have much more time together. 

 

i used a lot of intentional crystals in this series, crystals that remind me of prudence and our connection, like black onyx for strength and dispelling negative energy, amazonite for pure hope, rose quartz for unconditional love, labradorite for connection to spirit world. 

i hope these beadworks can act as little reminders for their wearers, that our love and connection for our pets lasts longer than their time with us humans.. and they will always be a part of us in this life and the next.
